Mayor Steve Pougnet will deliver the annual State of the
City address at a luncheon sponsored by the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce on
Thursday, Jan. 26. The event is slated for 11:30 a.m. at the Hilton Palm
Springs, 400 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way. Tickets are $45 per person.
Free
seats will be available for residents wishing only to hear the Mayor's address,
which will begin at 12:30 p.m. To reserve a spot for the luncheon, visit www.pschamber.org or call (760) 325-1577.
Immediately following a question and answer session, the

demolition begins on the old Bank of America building. The demolition site will
be located behind the building in the parking lot. Demolition is expected to

The entire demolition of the building is expected to
take about a month. A news release is available with more

HIDDEN HARVEST CITRUS COLLECTION
Once again, the City is running a citrus collection for unneeded citrus fruit in conjunction with Hidden Harvest, a nonprofit organization that collects excess produce from fields and delivers healthy produce free-of-charge to agencies that serve the hungry and needy.
Donations may be made at the City facility at 425 N. Civic Drive. (Tangerines are the only citrus not accepted as they tend to rot quickly and can spoil the batch.) Last year the City of Palm Springs collected and delivered over 90,000 lbs of fruit! What a great way to broaden the use of our eye-pleasing, beautiful neighborhood landscaping!

The
fourteenth annual Tour de Palm Springs will occur on February 11. Over 9400
riders will participate in this event which is expected to raise over $200,000
for over 150 local charities. The Tour de Palm Springs offers rides for just
about anyone – from a 5-mile route to a 100-mile route. The 5-mile route
focuses on Palm Springs’ downtown neighborhoods including Old Las Palmas. We’ll
see the riders enjoying the sights of our historic neighborhood between 11:30 am
